Raising Monarch butterflies was the beginning of my passion for pollinator studies!

Hello there! My name is Lauren Gunning, and I am a Junior here at Grove City College. I am from Perkasie, Pennsylvania (a town near Philadelphia), and I am majoring in Conservation Biology. Conservation and environmental stewardship has always been one of my biggest passions, starting from in elementary school when my class raised Monarch butterflies. Soon, my interest in pollinator health grew to involve the complex world of honeybees, and after learning about the Grove City apiary, I couldn't wait to learn more!

Now as a college student, studying honeybee biology and threats to honeybee health is my main concentration. On the GCC Bee Research team, getting the opportunity to work with honeybees in a hands-on setting has been a huge blessing!

At Grove City, I am also involved with Orientation Board, Tri-Beta Honor Society, and the Environmental Club. Like any good Conservation Biology major, I love the outdoors and appreciating God's creation around me. On campus, you can find me hanging out with friends in the Student Union, grabbing coffee at Urban Trail, or studying on the quad (on the few days of good weather in western PA)!
