Hello! I am Garrett Marshall, I am from Portersville, Pennsylvania, and I am a senior at Grove City College who is studying Conservation Biology. Caring for the environment has always been a part of my life, as I grew up on my family’s farm where we raise a variety of cattle, pigs, chickens, and crops. From both my history with agriculture and my interest in conservation biology, I have developed an interest in learning about and caring for the pollinators of many plants that make both agriculture and gardening possible. I heard about the GCC bee project shortly after coming to campus and was immediately interested.
Entering my senior year, I have the blessing of working with Dr. Farone on honey bee research for the summer and fall of 2026! I was able to take "Intro to Apiculture" this past spring, and it further sparked my interest to learn more about honey bees and beekeeping. I am very excited to dive into this project and see what all I can learn from this experience.
On campus, outside of honey bee research and classes, I am a member of the AEX housing group where I will be leading service project coordination for the upcoming year, and I will be a member of the Wildlife Society chapter on campus once it starts again this coming semester. Outside of campus, I have interests in gardening, helping with my family’s farm, and studying and learning more about plant science and GIS!
