Meet Alice!

Hi! My name is Alice Crane, and I am currently a junior Biology/Health major with a minor in Biblical and Religious Studies. I grew up around animals, specifically horses, which sparked my interest in the veterinary field. After my time at GCC, I hope ot attend veterinary school to achieve my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
What piqued my interest with honey bees is the veterinary aspect. Before college, I never thought that tiny insects such as bees would have such complex systems and roles in public health. In taking Dr. Farone's apiculture class, I learned just how involved veterinarians are in beekeeping and apiculture. In the fall semester, I will be working specifically on testing our hives for European Foulbrood and American Foulbrood, while also diving into antibiotic resistance in honey bees.
On campus, I am involved in marching band, wind ensemble, American Sign Language club, handbell choir, and the TriBeta honors society. I also work as a Media Services Technician and a Biology 101 TA. I am so excited to be working with the GCC Bee Project!
